John's Five Point Platform for Michigan:

  • THE ECONOMY & JOBS John knows that the stimulus and bailout mentality has produced few if any successes and an abundance of debt that will be passed on to our children for generations. John believes that the government’s role is not to “stimulate” our economy; it should protect the American worker by creating an environment that will motivate our economy to create jobs. When elected, John will introduce a bill to declare the ten worst hit cities Federal Tax Free Zones for ten years. John will work with community banks and small businesses in order to restore consumer confidence and create the private sector jobs that will bring Detroit and the rest of Michigan out of this recession.
  • PUBLIC SAFETY – John shares your concerns with our local, state, and federal government’s ability to fulfill their primary duty – to protect the citizens.  John believes that federal mandates for emergency service staffing levels are unrealistic and untenable in the current economy and should be adjusted to meet the needs of our local police, fire, and EMS personnel. When elected, John will stop the federal government from cutting police and firefighter assistance programs for budgetary reasons.  John will fight for the citizens of the 13th district by securing the federal contributions that are necessary to keep our first responders equipped to react to any threats to public safety.
  • EDUCATIONJohn will not spend your tax dollars on “regulating” education; he will focus on educating our youth to be competitive in the global market.  John will return the power of administrating our children’s education to the state and local communities and cutback federal oversight and wasteful spending. When elected, John will make education competitive by empowering parents with the ability to choose where their children will receive their education.
  • TRADE POLICYJohn has seen our government surrender our national sovereignty and fail the American worker through bad trade policy. John knows that without a manufacturing base our country will continue to crumble – and he believes that a recovery starts with adopting fair trade, not free trade.  If the United States is to make trade agreements, John will make sure that we do so from a position of strength, not agree to lopsided trade policies that benefit other countries’ workers at the expense of Michigan’s capable workforce.
  • NATURAL RESOURCES & ENERGYJohn knows that Michigan is blessed with some of the most scenic lands in America and he will ensure that these lands are protected for our future generations. John believes that the United States can and should lead by example in developing a future reliant upon clean energy. When elected, John will keep the Great Lakes great through his Great Lakes Initiative – a plan to revitalize our water based economy through tourism, trade, and the development of clean renewable energy.
